Take on the South West Reading Challenge

Looking for a new book to get stuck into – and the chance to win prizes?

Students across Wiltshire College & University Centre are being invited to take part in the South West Reading Challenge, a fun reading-for-pleasure initiative running across colleges in the region.

The challenge runs until 15 June, giving you plenty of time to discover new books, explore different genres and earn rewards along the way.

The challenge also supports the National Year of Reading, which celebrates the benefits of reading for pleasure and encourages people of all ages to discover new books.

How the challenge works

Taking part couldn’t be easier.

  1. Visit your campus Learning Resources Centre (LRC)
  2. Choose any book you’d like to read: Books can be physical, audiobooks or e-books
  3. When you return it, give a short review

Your review can be written or verbal – just a few sentences about what you thought of the book.

Each time you complete a book, LRC staff will record it and track your progress through the challenge.

Earn badges and prizes

The more books you read, the more rewards you can unlock:

  • Bronze – read 2 books
  • Silver – read 4 books
  • Gold – read 6 books

At each stage you’ll earn a badge and certificate to recognise your achievement.

And that’s not all. Everyone who reaches Bronze, Silver or Gold will be entered into a regional prize draw on 19 June.

Prizes include:

  • iPads
  • Amazon vouchers
  • cameras

So the more you read, the more chances you have to win.

Discover something new

The challenge is open to all students, no matter what you enjoy reading or how often you normally pick up a book.
