College joins business and education leaders at Wiltshire Business Show

WILTSHIRE Business Show 2025 comes to The Civic, Trowbridge next week – and we’re proud to be involved. The two-day event will bring together leaders from business, education and local government for big conversations about skills, growth and the future of our county.

The College is contributing to three events during the show, including two major sessions on the Auditorium stage and a Business & Skills Network session led by Martin Reeves, the College’s Head of Business Development.

On Thursday 18 September, the first of the Auditorium sessions, Understanding Wiltshire: Opportunity and Growth (11.30am), will bring together MPs, the Lord Lieutenant, local authority leaders and business figures to discuss Wiltshire’s long-term vision for the future for investment, infrastructure and workforce skills.

Later in the day, Tech Trowbridge: A Vision for Wiltshire (12.45pm), will explore how technology and innovation can shape the county’s economy in the years ahead. With our Trowbridge campus home to an eGaming facility and a growing hub for digital and creative industries, this discussion is set to shine a spotlight on one of the county’s most exciting opportunities.

College Principal Iain Hatt will join the main Auditorium panels to share the College’s perspective on skills, innovation and the role of education in supporting Wiltshire’s economic future.

The College will also contribute to the Business and Skills Network space (10.15am), where Martin will lead a discussion on how employers and educators can work together to build a stronger skills pipeline for the county’s future workforce.

“Partnering with the Wiltshire Business Show is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the ways education and business can work together to support growth and enable skills development across the county,” said Martin Reeves, Director of Business Development at Wiltshire College & University Centre. “We’re looking forward to connecting with employers, hearing their perspectives, and sharing how the College can play an active role in developing our students into the workforce of the future for Wiltshire.”

In addition to its programme contributions, our Business Development team will host a stand across both days of the Show, highlighting opportunities for employers to partner with the College through apprenticeships, T Levels and training provision.

As proud sponsors of the show, we’re pleased to be working with County Business Shows Ltd to create a space where education and business can connect, share ideas and build lasting partnerships.

“Our vision is to build the business ecosystem in Wiltshire by bringing together partners from local authority, education, business groups and commercial organisations,” said Pete Allison, Director at County Business Shows Ltd. “Wiltshire College has been keen to work with us from the start on what this project can achieve.”

Alongside the Show, we’re also launching THE BIG Placement Pledge – a campaign to expand opportunities for T Level industry placements across Wiltshire. The initiative aims to connect more employers with students in areas such as engineering, health, digital and business – helping young people to gain vital experience while supporting businesses with emerging talent.
