Why study at Salisbury?

Wiltshire College Salisbury is at the heart of one of the most beautiful and culturally active cities in Britain.

The real potential of choosing Salisbury as a location for your study becomes apparent when you look at its position on a map - a 50-mile radius circle drawn around Salisbury will highlight an astounding range of cities, nightlife and opportunities within very easy reach.

With Salisbury as your base you can be in Bath, Bournemouth, Southampton, Winchester and Portsmouth in under an hour - that's five different music scenes, five major cultural and entertainment centres - and the south coast beaches are only 30-miles away.

Within Salisbury itself, there's a great choice of pubs, clubs, restaurants and entertainment venues. The Playhouse is one of the country's leading repertory theatres, and the annual Salisbury Festival attracts international artists.

Experience

Higher Education isn't just about the course you're on; it's a whole life experience. While you study you'll acquire new social skills. Your views will broaden, you'll try new things and the experience will make you more employable.

The Students' Union is an integral part of the culture at the College. The Union organises sporting and social activities such as pub crawls, parties, trips to theme parks, paintballing and the Summer Ball. Every new student automatically becomes a member and receives a Student ID card and the option to receive a NUS card, entitling you to discounts at a variety of shops.

Our Customer Services team also run activities throughout the year to raise money for charities. The Student Liaison Officer provides dedicated support to organise events and activities to make sure you are kept entertained.

Students also enjoy some unexpected benefits on joining Wiltshire College Salisbury; the opportunity to try bargain-priced treatments in our beauty and hair salons and the chance to eat gourmet meals at student prices in the catering team's restaurant.

Higher Education Centre

HE Students studying in Salisbury can make use of the St Mary’s Higher Education Centre. A listed building, complete with rare stained glass windows, it stood empty in the College grounds for years but, thanks to some tasteful renovation, it will now be used as an educational and social facility for students on Higher Education courses at the campus.

The £200,000 conversion project has been funded by Bournemouth University, one of Wiltshire College’s education partners. Students chose the brightly-coloured furniture that contrasts well with the traditional chapel interior. Film students have already used the Centre as a cinema, a place to critique work that is less formal than a lecture theatre, while fashion students also turned it into a mini-catwalk for a display!

Sixth Form Centre

Wiltshire College Salisbury welcomes Sixth Form students with a range of A Level and BTEC courses. See our specialised Sixth Form pages here.

DisabledGoDisabledGo provides detailed independent online accessibility guides to a huge range of venues for disabled students and visitors.

Wiltshire College's facilities were surveyed in 2011.
