How do I apply for a full time course?
How do I apply for a full-time course?
Find the course that you are interested and click on the Apply Now button on the course information page. You will be asked to complete an online form. Once you have submitted the form, you will receive an email acknowledgement within 2 days. Our Admissions team will then contact you with an invitation to interview.
I haven’t yet applied for a course as I am worried about coming to college. What should I do?
You could come to one of our Open Events to have a look around and meet our staff. Details of upcoming Open Events can be found on the Home page. Alternatively a member of our Marketing Team would be happy to give you and your parents/carers a personal tour of the college to put your mind at rest and help you to decide if Wiltshire College & University Centre is where you would like to study. Please contact email@example.com to arrange this.
What if I want to apply for more than one course?
You can interview for as many courses as you like. Once you have applied for your first course and had the interview, please contact the Admissions team and they will arrange further interviews for you. There is no need to re-apply.
You can view what applications you’ve made or resume any applications by going to the Application Portal.
What do I need to know about my interview and course offer?
What should I wear to my interview?
You can either wear school uniform or smart casual clothing.
Do I need to bring anything to my interview?
Please bring your most recent school report and/or any exam certificates you have. Some course subjects will require you to bring a portfolio and prepare an audition. Please check your interview email for full details.
What happens at my interview?
You will meet a course lecturer and find out about the content of the course, the final qualifications and the opportunities available after your course. The lecturer will want to find out about you too and this is an opportunity to discuss your education so far, any experiences you have had and what plans you have for the future. It is really important that you research the subject/industry that you are being interviewed for as you will be asked about your understanding of this at interview.
What if I can’t attend my interview?
Please contact the Admissions team as soon as possible so that we can book you an alternative date and time. We do have a high demand for interviews, so if you really cannot come, then let us know so we can re-allocate your interview and book you into a future date.
What if I need extra support at college?
You may have had extra support at school that you need to continue with, or you may have worries or concerns about coming to college and need some extra support while you adjust to your new environment. Please discuss this with your lecturer at interview and if necessary, they will ensure you meet with someone in our Learning and Skills Development Service too.
What about work experience or work placements?
Work Placements are an important part of all Full Time Study Programmes at the College. You will have a dedicated Placement Officer who will assist you with coordinating your placement, supporting you throughout the process. If you have any questions about Work Placements please get in touch with the Work Placement Team at: WorkExperience@wiltshire.ac.uk
When will I hear if I have a place at college?
Following your course interview, we will send you an offer letter in the post which will outline any conditions that will need to be met, such as GCSE grades. If you do not wish to accept this offer, please contact the Admissions team so that we can amend our records and so that you will not continue to receive information from us.
Will I have the opportunity to visit the college again?
You are very welcome to come to any of our Open Events throughout the year as detailed on our website. Alternatively, our Marketing Team are always happy to arrange a tour of the college for you — please contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss.
What happens next?
You will be invited to Welcome Day in July
In June all eligible students who hold offers will be sent an invitation to Offer Holders which takes place as follows:
Lackham /Trowbridge campuses — Tuesday 30th June
Salisbury /Chippenham campuses — Wednesday 1st July
This is an opportunity for you to meet other students on your course as well as your lecturer and answer any questions or worries you may have about coming to college. Students coming to Welcome Day at the Trowbridge campus will be invited to either an AM or PM event. Please make sure you come to the event detailed in your invitation letter. If you are invited to the morning event, you cannot attend in the afternoon and vice versa.
Students coming to Welcome Day at the Lackham campus will stay on campus until 2.30 pm. Students should bring Wellington boots and outdoor clothing. Lunch can be purchased in the restaurant or please feel free to bring your own.
Students coming to Welcome Day at the Chippenham or Salisbury campuses will come in the morning and stay until approximately 12 noon. Students with offers on Pre-Degree Foundation Art and Design and also Access to HE are not invited to this event but will be invited to alternative events.
You will also meet your Placement Officer at the start of September, who will provide all the information you need for your Work Placement
What if I can’t make Welcome and Offer Holder day?
Invitations to Welcome Day are sent in early June. It is really important to attend this event if you possibly can, but we understand that sometimes this is not an option. Residential students living far away are not expected to attend. If you really cannot attend, there is no need to contact us. In August you will receive information about enrolment.
What do I need to know about results, enrolment and the start of term?
Results, Enrolment and the Start of Term
I have an offer of a place on a course – do I need to attend enrolment?
All students need to come in for enrolment before the start of their course. Different subjects will be invited on different days between 22nd and 29th August. If you are enrolling after 29th August please come into the campus you will study at as soon as possible. We will arrange for you to see your lecturer and get you enrolled and started as soon as possible.
What do I need to bring to enrolment?
Please make sure you bring your results slip and/or all exam certificates you have so that we can check these and ensure you enrol in the right level course. You will also need to pay your £25 non-refundable Resource Fee before coming to enrol. This can be done on the online shop, shop.wiltshire.ac.uk. You will need to bring a copy of your receipt as proof of purchase. If you cannot pay online please bring cash or a cheque made payable to Wiltshire College & University Centre with you to enrolment.
Do I need to buy any equipment or uniform for my course before enrolment?
You can view and download all courses additional costs information. Please be advised that you may not be able to view these zipped files on a mobile device. If you need to pay the college for a trip or purchase items from us you will be able to do this on our online shop which can be found at on our website.
What if I can’t make my enrolment day?
It is really important to attend enrolment before the start of your course, to confirm your place on the course. If you can’t attend the designated day for your course, then please come in on one of the other enrolment days shown on the enrolment timetable, which will be detailed on this page in August. If you are away all week, your lecturer may well contact you to find out when you will be in, but if you don’t hear from us please come in on the first day that you are available. As courses are starting on 30 August, it is important to get enrolled as soon as you can.
I have my results but I haven’t yet applied or had an interview for a course, is it too late?
We will continue taking applications for courses during September. From 19th August there is no need to apply online for a course, just drop into the campus from 22nd August onwards and we will arrange for you to meet a course lecturer. You may be with us for several hours and we hope to ensure you leave us having a completed enrolment! Don’t forget to bring your results and/or any exam certificates you have.
What if I need to contact you during enrolment?

When can I find out about my timetable?
Timetables are not confirmed until the start of the course and may be subject to change for the first month. However, your lecturer will be able to give you an indication of the days that you are likely to be in college.
When does my course start?
Most full-time courses start on Friday 30th August with an induction day. Your lecturer will confirm this when you come in for enrolment and give you a temporary timetable. Foundation Studies students will start as their timetable shows. The full timetable starts from Monday 2nd September.
How do I pay for my course?
Will I have to pay for my course?
Home students who are under 19 on 31st August 2020 do not have to pay for their course. Students who are 19 or over on 31st August 2020 will be eligible to pay tuition fees and will be sent a letter detailing the fees.
If I have to pay for my course, how do I pay?
Students who have to pay for their course will need to do so at enrolment at the end of August. We can take a credit card, debit card, cash or cheque. The College can usually set up an instalment plan for you. Students enrolling on an eligible Level 3 course may be able to take out an Advanced Learner Loan. Can my employer pay for my course?
Yes. Your employer must complete an Employer’s Undertaking Form which can be downloaded from the college website or you can collect a form from Customer Services. Hand the form to Customer Services when you enrol. The College will then invoice your employer for your course fees.
If I am 19 or over can I get help with my course fees?
Some students on eligible courses may be entitled to fee remission based on their current qualifications, or if they are in receipt of benefits or on a very low income. Please contact the Admissions team to see what help may be available to you.
Can I get any financial support to help me to come to college?
If you have a low household income and are studying an eligible course, you may be entitled to a bursary or support from the Learner Support Fund. Applications forms and full details will be available to collect at Welcome and Induction Days. You will also be able to view the information on our website on the Money Matters page.
What if I have not been resident in the UK/EU or EEA for 3 years?
If you have not been a resident in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years you may have to pay the overseas fees which are higher than the home student fees. It depends on your immigration status and the course you are enrolling on. Contact the Admissions team for more information.
