COVID-19 Passenger Transport Advice

For students travelling to College on public transport or a dedicated College bus, it is important that you are aware of the rules and guidelines that have been put in place to protect you and your fellow passengers.

Please read the latest guidance about school and college transport before you travel.

Travelling by Bus

These bus passes are only available for students who are aged under 19 on the first day of college. For students aged 19 or older the pay as go cost can be found on the bus timetable. 

Students living in Wiltshire and with a household income of less than £20,819 should apply for the lower rate Wiltshire Council transport pass. This pass costs £266 and offers the best value for money for college travel by bus. You can apply here.

Students living outside Wiltshire or who have been refused a bus pass by Wiltshire Council and with a household income of less than £20,819 should apply for the lower rate Wiltshire College transport pass. This pass costs £266 and offers the best value for money for college travel by bus. You can apply for this here.

For students whose income is higher than £20,819 the bus pass will cost £821. This may not be the most cost-effective option depending where you live and the number of days you need to attend college. Please see the relevant bus timetable and pay as you go costs below:

Travel from Salisbury, Amesbury, Durrington, Shrewton, Devizes and Bowerhill – X2
Travel from Warminster, Westbury, Trowbridge and Melksham – X18
Travel from Swindon, Royal Wotton Bassett and Chippenham – X56
Travel from Malborough, Avebury, Calne and Chippenham – X43
Travel from Bath, Corsham and Cepen Park Chippenham – X83

From Malmesbury and surrounding villages

Bus service 92 is operated by Coachstyle and runs from Malmesbury to Chippenham, then connect with X56 from Chippenham to Lackham bus. The X56 comes directly onto site for 8.45am drop off, please see above for the X56 timetable.

From Frome

The X34 bus from Frome to Trowbridge and the connecting X18 bus to Lackham (which drops off directly on campus). Alternatively, the X34 drops off on the A350 outside Lackham – please note that you will need to walk up the drive into Lackham. 

From Midsomer Norton or Radstock

Full time students who live in either Midsomer Norton or Radstock areas can take the Wiltshire College & University Centre bus that picks up from these areas and takes students to the Trowbridge and Lackham campuses during term time:

Outbound Journey

Midsomer Norton (High Street B3355 near the library) 07:30

Radstock (Victoria Hall) 07:35

Trowbridge Campus 08:10

Lackham Campus 08:50

Return Journey

Lackham Campus 16:40

Trowbridge Campus 17:20

Radstock (Victoria Hall) 17:50

Midsomer Norton High St 17:55

The current travel pass price is £500 per year. This may be reduced with evidence of household income less than £20,819 for the year 201920 and if you are eligible for a College bursary.

Travelling by Car

There is free parking on site. Parking is limited and the College car park is monitored by Parking Eye. Students should register their vehicle with the College when they start their course to avoid a fine.

Useful Information and Links

The College bursaries can offer financial support to help with the cost of travelling to college. If you live more than 3 miles (walking distance) from College and your household income is less than £35,000, you should apply. Information and application forms can be found here:
