Course Overview
This course is designed for adults with a range of learning disabilities who wish to increase their independence. It will cover areas of learning that impact on daily living and will be geared to the needs of individuals, enabling them to gain confidence and increase independence.
What will I learn?
This course will look at Foundation Skills, English, Maths and ICT and will focus on what is needed for shopping, cooking, getting about, finding information, contacting friends and keeping safe. It will help those attending to develop and maintain practical living skills needed for cooking and cleaning, including hand and eye coordination and this will be done though helping to prepare basic dishes and safe cleaning techniques. Students will also learn about keeping healthy, problem solving, improving communication skills and confidence with everyday reading and writing. In addition to this, students will also learn how to use a computer for finding information, contacting friends or playing games.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.
