Course Overview
If you work or are seeking employment within arboriculture, tree surgery or forestry, or have a job that requires tree-climbing, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to carry out your work safely and effectively.
What will I learn?
Units on the course include:
Risk assessment of tree climbing operations
Select and inspect a range of tree climbing equipment and PPE
Safe working practices and tree access techniques
Carry out pre-climb inspection and understand why this is done
Legal, environmental factors and requirements of LOLER legislation
Rope, Cord and Karabiners – types and use
Knots – type and how to do them
Set up climbing system, safely climb tree & establish anchor points
Branch walking techniques, moving around the crown & descending to the ground
Aerial rescue techniques
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course, although a good level of fitness is advised.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment will be carried out by an NPTC assessor after the five days of training. Subject to assessor availability, this is typically within seven days of the final training day.
