Course Overview
The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Hairdressing aims to provide you with a range of essential practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek employment or further training within the hairdressing Industry.The skills include carrying out services such as shampooing, conditioning, styling, dressing and setting hair, cutting and colouring.
What will I learn?
This qualification covers a very wide range of practical skills and knowledge required for working in the hairdressing industries.
You will study the following mandatory content:
• Principles of hairdressing and barbering services
• Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
• Style, set and dress hair
• Cut hair using basic techniques
• Colour and lighten hair
Entry Requirements
To enrol you must have 4 GCSEs at grade D (3) or above, including English and maths (or equivalent) or Level 1 Hair and Beauty.
Your application will need to be supported by a reference, good record of attendance and an interview.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
To gain this qualification, you must successfully achieve the following assessments:
One externally set, externally moderated practical assignment.
One externally set, externally marked theory exam.
A minimum of 3-hours a week home study is required.
30 hours of work experience.
You will be assessed working on clients in the Aspire Academy of Hair & Beauty salons throughout the duration of the course.
Final qualification: Level 2 Technical Certificate in Hairdressing.
This qualification will allow you to progress into employment in the hairdressing industry for example; junior stylist roles or onto the Level 3 Technical Diploma in Hairdressing or Advanced Apprenticeship in Level 3 Hairdressing, where you can enhance the skills and knowledge that you have gained at Level 2 to progress into senior job roles and wider career choices.
Additional Costs and Information
A kit and uniform will be required (discussed at interview).
In cases of financial hardship funds may be available to help with the cost of this.
We also arrange educational activities and competitions as part of the course which may incur an additional cost.
