Course Overview


Interested in a career in Health and Social Care? This one-year introductory course will give you an understanding of the scope of the health, social care and children’s services sector. You will learn about the health, development and wellbeing of individuals across their life span. You will explore a variety of topics and units, designed to meet the interests of those wanting a career in care. This course is designed to introduce you to the caring sector and prepare you for further training in this sector, or ultimately, employment.


What will I learn?


Your study across a variety of modules will introduce you to different elements of the caring sector, and provide an in-depth look into the differing needs in health and social care, as well as introducing you to areas of development. You’ll complete a module on creative and leisure activities for adults in health and social care, and participate in them yourself!

Entry Requirements


4 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) including English and Maths.

You will be interviewed by a member of the lecturing team.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications


You will be assessed through coursework in a range of forms such as posters, leaflets and written reports.

You will have Maths, English, theory, practical and self-directed study sessions as part of your timetable.
