What will I learn?


The higher apprenticeship in IT and Telecoms Professional will cover the following units:

Business Skills for e-Commerce
Computer Systems
Employability and Professional Development

Entry Requirements


Level 3 qualification in an appropriate IT related subject, such as A levels, or BTEC Level 3 Diploma.

Minimum GCSE grade C in Maths and English.

All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths, English and ICT.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications


The duration of a higher apprenticeship in IT and Telecoms will take 24 months to complete.

Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers, so they offer a structured programme that takes you through the skills you need to do a job well. Each apprenticeship involves a structured programme of training leading to recognised qualifications. Here are the elements of the higher apprenticeship programme:

Level 4 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT & Telecoms Professionals

Skills and competence are observed on the job, so the work you do helps you to qualify. An assessor will come into the workplace on a regular basis to observe and work with you during the length of the apprenticeship programme. Appropriate units will be chosen that match your job role.

Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Computing and Systems Development.

You will develop the knowledge that will underpin your specific apprenticeship. This is a university level qualification and you will be required to attend college for one day per week to achieve the knowledge element of this qualification. BTEC Higher Nationals in Computing has been developed with input from the Information and Communications Technology sector to deliver the essential understanding and practical skills for a career in the IT sector.
