Course Overview


GCSE English courses start w/c 28 September 2020 and run up until the exams in June 2021.We encourage you to apply on-line and register your interest in studying GCSE English now as our classes have started and our latest date of enrolment for this academic year will be 16th October. Following receipt of your application, we will contact you to discuss the options available to you .We are delivering face to face taught classes (daytime and evening) at our Trowbridge, Salisbury and Chippenham campuses with adherence to 'covid' safety guidelines and appropriate social distancing.All of these courses are free of charge for applicants who do not have a Grade C or Grade 4 or above at GCSE.


What will I learn?


When you sign up to study GCSE English, we will help you develop your core skills and knowledge at Level 2 in reading, writing, speaking, listening and communication.

We offer the 9 - 1 GCSE English through the AQA Examining Board.

Entry Requirements


For those wishing to enrol onto the GCSE qualification, you are likely to already have achieved a grade D or 3 at GCSE, or hold a Functional skills Level 2 qualification.

As part of the interview process, all applicants will complete an initial assessment.
Using the results from this and through discussion with you, we will be able to advise you about the course and qualification that is most suitable for you.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications


You are expected to attend the taught sessions regularly and be encouraged to develop your English communication skills through speaking and listening, reading and writing.

There is a range of e-learning facilities to support your development and there will be an expectation for you to complete work outside the classroom.

Class assessments will be held on a regular basis and these will be designed to develop your skills and fully prepare you for the GCSE final exams.

The grade you receive at the end of your AQA GCSE English Language course is entirely based on your performance in two exam papers.

Additional Costs and Information


All of these courses are free of charge for applicants who do not have a Grade C or Grade 4 or above at GCSE.

You will be required to provide your pens, paper and an A4 folder (to be brought to the first lesson)

Please be aware that courses will run subject to meeting a minimum requirement for student numbers.
