Delivered at our Salisbury campus, the Foundation Year will firstly give you the underpinning knowledge needed to prepare you for successful completion of the Foundation Degree, which is delivered at our Lackham campus.This course will also give you the vocational skills and knowledge to be attractive to employers at the end of the five years study.

Modules and course content are subject to change.
You should either be a young learner aged between 18 to 21 and not engaged in post-16 education, but may have experience since leaving full-time education that may help equip you for further study.
Alternatively, if you are aged over 21 and are a mature learner with no formal qualifications or A Levels (or equivalent) which were obtained more than three years ago, you can also apply.
It is desirable for you to have achieved a grade C (4) or greater in GCSE Mathematics (or equivalent).
If your first language is not English, you can apply with a suitable IELTS qualification or university recognised equivalent and evidence of academic qualifications would be required.
You are encouraged to apply for the year in which you wish to enter the programme although deferrals will be allowed in exceptional circumstances.
You should attend advertised Open Day events when the basis for any exceptional entry can be considered.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
During each module, you will undertake assignments that count towards its assessment. Assessment of all modules will be by both assignments and exams.
All modules are designed to enable you to engage in new areas of knowledge to acquire practical experience of a range of activities relevant to your employment within the Environmental Science industry and to encourage you to engage in critical reflection.
Teaching and Learning:
You will be given the opportunity to participate in lectures and workshops, plan and deliver presentations to your peers, research areas of relevance to the degree programme, critically evaluate the validity and implications of information and work with a wide variety of Environmental Science hardware and software.
There is no Work Placement requirement for the Foundation Degree although there is a Work Related Project to be completed in the final year of the programme which may require you to liaise with a local company or organisation.
Additional Costs and Information
The cost of the Foundation Year and Foundation Degree are £3,000 and £5,470 respectively per year.
