Course Overview

Are you keen to improve your employment prospects and increase your confidence when looking for work? Do you want help in producing a standout C.V.? Then this is the course for you. Its aim is to help you develop a range of employability skills, so whether you are returning to work after a career break, trying to find a new job or just feel that you need some help and support in a relaxed and supportive environment with an experienced teacher then we can help you. You will practise assertive communication techniques that will improve your presence and influence in situations where you might not feel confident and learn to make the most of your strengths. Learn about how to build up your confidence and understand the importance of being confident.We want you to be able to access the course easily, so it runs for 3 weeks with sessions that last for four hours, taught during school hours and term time.

What will I learn?

There are a range of topics to do with employability that we will cover during the course. We will begin with learning how to complete forms then you will learn how to create a professional C.V. and see how it can be adapted to the job you have applied for. We will help you develop the skills needed for an interview, including planning and preparation for your interview. We will help you improve and develop your money management skills. You will be able to learn these skills by completing a range of practical and written tasks that will help you demonstrate your skills and achievements during the course.

You will also learn:

How to express your emotions and feelings more effectively to have the impact that you need.

How to focus on your personal strengths, rather than your perceived weaknesses.

Ways to use a range of confidence-boosting techniques and include their practice in your daily life.

Techniques for improving your confidence.

What to do when you feel you are lacking confidence.

To support confidence through body language, tone, words and appearance.

Understanding why sometimes you choose to lack confidence.

How to speak up, share your ideas and opinions.

Have a higher sense of self-esteem and confidence.

Communicate with assertiveness and confidence.

Appreciate your own selves, making decisions, and embracing strengths.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications

Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.

There are no additional course costs.

You should bring with you: a pen and notebook, also if you have one a copy of your C.V.

From this course you may be able to gain employment, or you might decide to do another part time course to help develop further skills or qualifications
