Course Overview
This course aims to equip learners with the digital skills that will be useful to them in their everyday lives. The focus of this short course is on applying digital skills outside of a work context, for example in ways that will support learners to engage with family and friends, become active citizens, and carry out simple personal and household tasks.
What will I learn?
This course will cover:
Week 1 - Digital skills to handle information
Save information into a file and store it, using a straightforward set of folders, in a way that makes it easily retrievable
Week 2 – Create and edit digital content plus digital skills for communication
Edit and format simple documents for different purposes (e:g a party invitation or a ‘car for sale’ poster)
Receive online communications – to/from friends and family – in order to carry out a household/personal task
Week 3 – Go online and use digital devices safely and responsibly plus respond to technical problems
Follow good practice guideline for – safe and responsible use of devices and the internet – reporting anything suspicious and offensive – protecting own health and well being while using devices
Solve simple technical problems, referring to easily accessible sources of support where appropriate
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.

Additional Costs and Information
There are no additional course costs.. The sessions are free to the community provided you earn under a certain threshold or are on Benefits. Should you need any additional information before applying please do contact us on busdev@wiltshire.ac.uk.
You should bring paper and pen with you to make notes although handouts will be provided.
