Key course information
Adult Supported Learning
Apply for this course
This part-time course is specifically designed for adults with a range of learning disabilities who wish to learn new craft skills and art techniques in a relaxed atmosphere. The focus is on the doing rather than the finished product and learners will make choices about their designs for art, craft and the garden.
What will I learn?
You will make choices about the products you make, which you can take home for yourself or for others. You will learn about expression through colour and design, whilst exploring some famous paintings and take part in discussions. You will also learn about designing, making and maintaining a border or small area in the garden. On completion, you will have handled and used various materials and learned new art techniques. Those attending this course will also have the opportunity to look at printing using a variety of different materials and methods, painting on glass or ceramics to brighten up everyday objects, look at collage and decoupage for decorating items such as cards, keepsake boxes, mirrors or frames, and using polymer clay to make jewellery, keyrings or fridge magnets.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course.
