Course Overview

Having completed the Creative Photography and Portfolio Development course, this course aims to move learners forward in their development as a photographer.This course will help the photographer understand what standards and competences are required by a professional organisation.The course will culminate in an end of year show and private view at a local venue.On completion of the course you should be able to produce a panel of images suitable for an application to a professional body and contribute to an end of year show/exhibition.

What will I learn?

The following topics (and others) will be covered during the course:
Presentation: Editing, selection and sequencing to show a variety of approach within a cohesive display.
Technique (Camera: Choice of viewpoint and lighting appropriate to the subject; Highlight and shadow detail, density and correct colour rendition.
Technique (Technical): Absence of technical faults; Evidence of tonal control; Good image finishing; Attention to masking and colour management.
Visual Awareness: An understanding of light and its effect on mood and texture; Composition considerations of images; Appropriate use of masking and manipulation.
Communication: Show personal input, and an understanding with the subject; Show communication of mood, ideas and narrative as appropriate; Selection of the appropriate medium to assist communication; Show evidence of imagination and creativity, and ability to capture the decisive moment.
Developing a personal style: This course will be project based. Learners will negotiate their own assignments and produce work for assessment by the lecturer and their peers.
The college facilities will be available for the learners' use (on the premises) to produce the work for their assignments. (Studios, lighting, computer suite.)
Learners will be expected to bring their own camera equipment unless by prior arrangement they may borrow (whilst on the premises and supervised by the lecturer) equipment owned by the college.
All models and objects for photography will be supplied by the learners.

Entry Requirements

Completion of the Creative Photography and Portfolio Development course is required.

Please note that for terms 2 and 3 of this course, you have to have completed the previous terms.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications

Assessment is informal, based on learners personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly by the course lecturer.

Camera equipment (when required)

This course runs on one day per week at the Salisbury Campus and the dates are:
17.09.20-26.11.20 Thursday 18:00-21:00
14.01.21-25.03.21 Thursday 18:00-21:00
29.04.21-08.07.21 Thursday 18:00-12:00
