Computing and Information Technology

Learners who have a good knowledge of using a computer or laptop, with some experience of Microsoft Word. As a minimum they should have completed the Beginners to Intermediate course, or be at that level. This is a five week course comprising 2.5 hours per week.
What will I learn?
The aim of the course is to give the learners more advanced skills to enable them to use Word to create a variety of professional documents suitable for personal or business use.
The following topics will be covered during the course: Using Mail Merge for Letters, Envelopes and Labels; Setting up different Page Views and Tools; Using Track Changes and Comments; Creating professional large document using Endnotes, Footnotes, References, Indexes and Tables of Content; Creating Forms and securing documents; Using the File, Home, References, Mailings, Review, View, and Developer tabs, and the hidden Table and Picture tabs; Save to appropriate folders and print work.
There are no entry requirements associated with this course other than to have the appropriate prior knowledge of Word.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.
Additional Costs and Information
You should bring with you a notebook and pen, or other method of taking notes. There will be handouts and workbooks provided during the course. Please note that the course is a combination of lecturer taught and individual learning using the workbook with lecturer support.
