Course Overview
If you would like to pursue a career as a civil engineer, helping to construct and maintain the built environment that supports our way of life, this course will set you on the path towards your goal. You will study to become the future generation of civil engineers, site managers and quantity surveyors to meet the need for qualified professionals in this area. You will develop the knowledge and ability to produce solutions to expensive and diverse problems in a safe and environmentally appropriate way. In addition to classroom-based learning, you will benefit from high quality visits to relevant organisations within the construction and civil engineering sectors and participate in practical and theoretical workshops.
What will I learn?
You will learn about the sustainable design, construction and building of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, railways, dams, pavements, drainage, water and sewer reticulation systems, harbours, tunnels, runways and other fixed projects which enhance life in our diverse world.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
After successfully completing this two-year course you will achieve the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering).
Entry Requirements
• GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) in English Language and maths.
• 2 additional GCSEs at Grade 3 (D).
• A passion for civil engineering.
What Could I Do Next?
Following this course you could progress on to a higher education course such as the HNC in Civil Engineering or Construction or a degree course at university. Alternatively, you may decide to go on to a Higher Apprenticeship or move directly into employment.
