Progression Month 2021

Welcome to Progression Month 2021!

Progression Month is all about helping students move forward onto their prospective careers or find pathways into the next stage of their education. We’ve got a wide range of action-packed activities for all students to get involved in over the next few weeks, and will be hosting over 65 talks including university advice, guest speakers, virtual tours, finance advice and much more.

This year, Progression Month coincides with National Apprenticeship Week, National Careers Week and Higher Education Week, so we’ll be bringing you a variety of exciting and helpful live talks and online rescources revolving around these themes.

Use the buttons below to book a careers session or view our courses, otherwise scroll through to check out our schedule of events and start thinking about your next steps.

8th — 14th February: National Apprenticeship Week

This annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships shines a light on the amazing work being done by employers and apprentices across the country.

We have guest speakers from Siemens, ASK and Wessex Water, plus our very own excellent apprenticeship team delivering talks throughout the week outlined below, providing tips on applying, our vacancies and much more.

All National Apprenticeship Week talks have commenced, couldn’t attend live? Watch the recordings on our YouTube channel here.

1st — 6th March: National Careers Week

National Careers Week encourages us all to celebrate Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), which ultimately prepares our learners for life after education.

Throughout the week, we’re offering a range of live talks, workshops and rescources to help students make well-informed decisions on their future prospect.

8th — 14th March: Higher Education Week

Higher Education Week is all about exploring the wide variety of opportunities that are available after second-level education.

Going to university will help you study something you love doing, get a taste of independence, gain a recognised qualification, develop your skills, increase your earning potential, and yes, student life!

Over the course of the week, there will be a series of talks and rescources offering tips on making decisions, life at University, applying to HE, and what to expect throughout the process. We have over 12 universities visiting, and our very own superb H.E team.

Links to join will be added ahead of the events.

      Parent Offer

Please find a list of our parent talks taking place during Progression Month, including student finance, Wiltshire College Apprenticeships and H.E team, and Bath Spa University offering guidance on university.

During this month all students will be sent a Progression form, hopefully you will be completing it and applying for your next step.

However, some of you might not know what to do next and want to explore where your career is leading, what money can you earn, what jobs will there be?

You might have no idea — one minute you want to be designer, the next a wind turbine technician!

Come to think about it, if you were a wind turbine technician you could earn up to £42,000, it’s one of the jobs that is set to employ more people in the future, and will increase by 80% over the next ten years! So why not apply for an Engineering course?

You might be torn on what to do next, but we are on hand ready to support you with your progression.

We hope you enjoy the career talks, and most of all that they help you with your choices either this year or moving forward.

      - The Careers Team.
