Coming to college for the first time can be a daunting experience with a new campus to learn, new members of staff and more students than in school.
Transition days are designed to give new students the chance to familiarise themselves with the college environment while the campus is quiet over the summer months. During the two hour session, students will be shown around the campus, get to spend some time with members of staff and generally get used to their new environment.
While transition days are targeted at young people with SEND, they are open to anyone who feels they would benefit from extra time familiarising themselves with the college environment. Many students feel anxious about starting college and a transition day can help to alleviate their fears.
