Course Overview

This qualification will support learners to develop specialist knowledge and skills in their area of responsibility and enable learners to promote a values-based culture within their setting. This qualification can act as a progression route from the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care qualification to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care qualification. This qualification is suitable for those working as a lead practitioner in adult care.

There are 12 mandatory units to this course:

– Lead communication in adult care settings
– Develop, maintain and use records and reports
– Personal development in adult care settings
– Lead inclusive practice in adult care settings
– Lead health and safety in adult care settings
– Facilitate person-centred assessment to support well-being
– Facilitate support planning to ensure positive outcomes for individuals and to support wellbeing
– Professional practice in adult care settings
– Working in partnership with others
– Understand personalisation in care and support services
– Understand safeguarding and protection in adult care settings
– Safeguard children and young people who are present in the adult care sector

Optional units will be discussed with the learner and assessor upon application to the course.
Learners will need to be working or on a practical placement in a setting for the duration of the course as they need to show competence in both skills and knowledge.
Learners must achieve a minimum of 70 credits to achieve the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care. 36 credits must be achieved from the mandatory group. Learners must achieve 34 credits from the optional units. At least 55 credits must be achieve at Level 4 or above.

All units are assessed by a designated assessor using a range of methods. This will include direct observations in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence and written assignments.
Learners can usually complete this qualification in 18 to 24 months.
