Course Overview

Assistant Farm Manger role is responsible for professionally operating and supporting the management of an agricultural or horticultural business such as a farm. They will assist in the management at every stage, from the beginning of the product life cycle with the primary resource (seed for crops or breeding for livestock), during the production of the livestock or crops and through to either farm gate sale or direct supply to the consumer.

• Review performance of their area of responsibility within a farming enterprise to evaluate results and set plans for business
• Assist with the development of long-term farm business plans and working within strategic plans to improve the profitability of each enterprise
• Manage people within their influence on a day-to-day basis
• Maintain records in accordance with legal and industry audit requirements
• Promote a positive health and safety and wellbeing culture within the organisation, managing risk and multiple complex work environments safely
You must have a Level 3 Agriculture qualification. As well as maths and English L2 or GCSE grades 4(C) or above. If you don’t have these, you will need to complete these prior to completion of the apprenticeship programme (Gateway).

You must have secured a position with an employer and be ready to start working with them before you can begin your apprenticeship course.

Apprenticeship Standard Level 4 – Assistant Farm Manager
Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1) along with either PA2 (Boom Sprayer) OR PA6 (Handheld Applicators)
Ofqual regulated Level 3 award in first aid at work (3-day course)
Delivered one day a week at our Lackham campus during term time only, in the workplace and with a visit from your tutor every 10 to 12 weeks.
