Are you passionate about working with children and shaping their early years?

Embark on a journey into the essence of childhood development as an Early Years Practitioner. Each day presents a chance to both inspire and be inspired. In this crucial role, you’ll inspire, encourage and support children, interacting with them through engaging activities, play, and educational programs that ignite their curiosity and foster their development. Working within a committed team, you’ll help create a nurturing environment for care and learning, guided by seasoned professionals in the field.

Learning hands on in the workplace you will gain the crucial knowledge, skills and behaviours required for an Early Years Practitioner.

This apprenticeship contains the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Diploma which covers the following topics:

– Roles and responsibilities of the Early Years Practitioner
– Health and Safety
– Equality, diversity and inclusive practice
– Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children
– Understand how to support child development
– Support care routines
– Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes
– Promote play
– Support well-being of babies and young children for healthy lifestyles
– Support babies and young children to be physically active
– Support the needs of babies and young children with Special Educational Needs and Disability
– Promote positive behaviour
– Partnership working
– Support the needs of the child in preparing for school
You must have secured a position with an employer and be ready to start working with them before you can begin your apprenticeship course.

The rules surrounding the achievement of maths and English has recently changed.
A Level 2 qualification is GCSE grade C/4, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
A Level 1 qualification is GCSE grade D-G/3-1, Functional Skills Level 1 or equivalent.

For apprentices under 19 years of age on enrolment.
– If you do not hold any English or maths qualifications you must achieve Level 1 Functional Skills and work towards Level 2.
– If you hold a Level 1 qualification, you must work towards Functional Skills Level 2

For apprentices over the age of 19 years of age on enrolment you and your employer can decided whether they wish for you to enrol on maths and English. If you decide you do, you must engage fully with your tutor and sit the assessments, but you are not required to pass.

Maths and English is delivered either in the learners workplace, via Teams or on a one to one basis in one of our three main campuses, Chippenham, Trowbridge and Salisbury.
Your assessor will support you throughout your apprenticeship to prepare you for your End Point Assessment. This is a final set of assessments where you can showcase your knowledge, skills and behaviours. The End Point Assessment consists of a Professional Discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence and a multiple-choice knowledge test.

Your assessor will meet with you and your employer at least every 12 weeks to carry out a review of your learning and development and set next steps

Throughout your apprenticeship your assessor will assess you using a range of methods including direct observations in the workplace, professional discussions and written assignments. You will record your learning on an e-portfolio which means you must have access to a lap-top or computer, a phone or small table will not be suitable due to the written work and tasks that you will be set.

In order to achieve this apprenticeship, apprentices must complete the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
There are no additional costs or resources required for this qualification however apprentices may wish to purchase books to support their learning. The Learning Resource Centres in each of our Chippenham, Trowbridge and Salisbury campuses have a wide range of books and resources that learners can access.

Regular access to a lap-top or computer is essential. The use of a phone or small tablet is not suitable due to the written work and tasks that you will be set.

The duration of this course is 14 months but can be completed in 12 months should learners wish.
