Lackham first to host Landex leadership programme

Lackham

Wiltshire College & University Centre was delighted to be the first to host a bespoke programme tackling a shortage of middle managers in the land-based sector.
The Lackham campus provided the backdrop for the leadership development programme developed by Landex, which saw delegates benefit from talks and presentations with senior leaders with land-based experience on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th November.

The pragmatic programme aims to extend the range of leadership and management skills, knowledge and experience to help managers carry out their role more effectively as well as prepare them for the next steps in their career and provides a forum for middle leaders to network and share current practice.

College Principal Amanda Burnside was pleased to support the delivery with a Principal’s Masterclass talking about strategic priorities, College culture, challenges in the FE sector and her own journey in education.

Amanda said: “It was a privilege for the College to be the first to host this two-day programme designed at tackling a shortage of middle managers within the land-based sector.”

The programme will be delivered over six residential sessions with other Landex colleges hosting the programme.

This first session focussed on an overview of systems, funding and the mixed economy of the sector. Delegates also had the chance for a tour of Lackham and to see some of the redevelopment works that are currently underway.

Chris Moody, OBE, Chief Executive for Landex, said: “I am delighted that the first block of the Landex development programme for middle leaders proved to be so successful.

“Hosted by Wilshire College & University Centre, the delegates benefitted from inspirational presentations by the principal and senior leaders at the college.

“All delegates were very complimentary about their experiences during the two days and are now looking forward to the next block in January 2020.”
