Dressing My Ancestors
I am very interested in my family tree, and through this project I aimed to bring to life outfits that my distant ‘Tudor’ ancestors would have worn.
Using portraits, extant garments and academic research, I have created outfits that could have been worn by Lady Jane Grey, Cecily Bonville and Elizabeth Woodville. I aimed to be as accurate as possible using available research, but also whilst working to a budget. I have made the outfits from the under layers to the headwear, adding embroidered and beaded detail to imitate the richness of the Royal Court in the 15th and 16th century.
