IT students create 2D games for internal competition

IT students at Wiltshire College & University Centre’s Chippenham campus have been getting creative after taking part in a competition to create 2D games.

Based on the Duality theme from last year’s Global Games Jam, students created games using either the Game Maker Studio 2 or Game Maker 8.1 software platform.

Local gaming studio Roll7 agreed to cast an eye over the students’ creations and select the top three to win prizes.

Jay Brundell was named as the winner with the judges noting “the game design and technical execution were both really impressive”.

Dennis Barnett was the runner-up, with Piers Thayer in third place. All three were rewarded with Amazon vouchers presented by Lecturer Ben Macloughlin.

Congratulations to everyone who took part. You can see full game showreel below.

IT courses are run at our Chippenham, Salisbury and IT campuses. To apply to start this September, click here.
