Outstanding results for Business degree level students

Students on Wiltshire College & University Centre’s BA (Hons) Business Management Practice degree course are celebrating a series of outstanding results, with five of the cohort achieving a First.

The whole group worked tirelessly throughout the programme – which is accredited by Oxford Brookes University – and received excellent feedback from the external examiner.

One of the group, Chelsea Jinks, has already landed her first industry role and will soon start a Traineeship at Wavin – the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic pipe systems – at their base in Chippenham.

For Chelsea, graduating from university marks the end of nearly a decade of study at the College, where she has progressed from Level 1 to Level 6.

Chelsea has Cerebral Palsy and is a wheelchair user and first joined the College on a Foundation Studies programme in 2013 but leaves with a degree and all the skills and knowledge required to enter the world of work.

Chelsea said: “I have been at the College for nine years. I have definitely enjoyed it but it has been challenging. I have worked my way up all the way from the Skills Pathway course to the Business Management degree.

“I have had Cerebral Palsy since birth, I was born prematurely weighing just 2lbs 10. Cerebral Palsy has affected my brain but it hasn’t stopped me achieving.

“The lecturers have been fantastic, both with my disability and my workload, and the support from the College has been amazing, from the facilities to help with coursework and understanding my needs.

“I was doing a cookery course previously, but I had to stop due to health and safety reasons, so I chose to do business instead and it’s led me to where I am today.

“I like everything about business and I have a passion for trying to help others where possible. I want to go into a Customer Service role or somewhere within HR.

“I have loved my time at the College but I have got to the point where I want to put my knowledge into practice.”

The College’s University Centre runs programmes in various sectors across its campuses at Castle Combe, Chippenham, Lackham, Salisbury and Trowbridge.

Ranging from agriculture to business, and creative arts to engineering, many programmes are validated by top UK universities and awarding bodies, including Bournemouth University, Oxford Brookes University and Pearson.
