Management apprentice supports vulnerable with voluntary efforts

Louise Gover, a Level 5 Management apprentice, who manages the Alzheimer’s Care Centre in Warminster, has refused to let these unprecedented times dampen her mood or caring nature.

Talking about what she has been doing throughout the lockdown, Louise said: “I spent a

week collecting prescriptions and shopping for those isolating, in fancy dress, and raised £1,125 for Alzheimer’s Support.

“I’ve been carrying out voluntary shifts at the care home where my Nan is to help whilst there is a shortage too. I’ve even signed up to volunteer for Age UK as a home from hospital support worker and for Carewatch – I haven’t been needed yet but if they need me, I’ll be ready to help!”

Louise has also been making regular phone calls to the members of Club Mama, making sure those who are elderly and subsequently at higher risk are well and keeping safe. She also checks and ensures that they have everything they need while there are isolating. Louise and her daughter are also planning on writing 46 ‘We Miss You’ cards for each club member to receive in the post this week.
