Oh yes it was - success as students perform to packed audiences for popular Christmas panto!

It was standing room only for all nine performances of Jack and the Beanstalk presented by Wiltshire College’s Performing Arts students.

The Arc Theatre at the Trowbridge campus was packed from Tuesday 5th to Friday 8th December as Level 2 and 3 students showcased a brand new version of the classic story Jack and the Beanstalk, written and directed by Performing Arts lecturer Jamie Wright and Theatre manager Tirion Cowell.

The pantomime took theatre-goers on an amazing journey of Jack and his adventures of the beanstalk and into the clouds.

Year 7 pupils from neighbouring John of Gaunt were just some of those to enjoy the show.

Assistant head teacher Helen Kerr said the trip was a reward for those students with good attendance.

She said: “For me it was lovely to come along as some of the students in the pantomime were former students and to see them doing what they dreamed of doing is wonderful.

“The show really was fantastic and the pupils were so excited to come along.

“They weren’t disappointed and I really think everyone involved was extraordinary.

“Everyone was so professional and the whole ensemble was amazing.

“It was so polished and I really couldn’t pick out a thing wrong.

“We can’t wait to come back again next year.

“I just want all my former pupils to remember I knew them before they were famous!”

Jamie Wright said he was proud of the students who had put in a huge effort during rehearsals.

He said: “It was an amazing week with all our performances packed and there was also a fantastic atmosphere.

“We are thrilled that we were able to welcome in schools this year and have already had many book in for next year.

“I am really proud of all of our students that were involved!”

As well as performing, the students made all of the props used in the show and Art & Design students made the costumes.

There was also a cameo role for site officer Andy Hawkins, who as well as being an integral part of the estates team at the Trowbridge campus, terrified youngsters as the voice of the giant Blunderdore!
