Students got a flavour of the ice cream business during a trip to Marshfield Farm.
First year Level 3 Business students from the Chippenham and Trowbridge campuses gained a fascinating insight into Marshfield Ice Cream, the history of the business, how it developed and continues to grow whilst enjoying a tour of the factory, barns and shop.
They also learned about branding, marketing, health and safety, finance, research and development, training and knowing your USP.
One of the highlights of the trip for the students was each being able to sample an ice cream flavour of their choice!
Ewan Whelan, aged 18, said: “It was a really fun and interesting way of learning about a business.
“I will remember it forever, especially seeing the cows.”
Pippa Thomas is a Business lecturer at the Trowbridge campus.
She said: “The trip was very successful and interactive.
“The students were completely engaged and learned about how this local business operates in a very competitive market.
“The students have already written an essay on branding at Marshfield Farm and the trip really brought their learning to life.”
