The Wiltshire College, Lackham Tractor Strip 2012 was a great success, with the Massey Ferguson 165 completed in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The students, who are on their second year of the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Land Based Technology, worked incredibly hard, with support and guidance from Mike O’Sullivan and his team of staff. The completely restored tractor is now set for auction in Cheffins’ Vintage Sale in Cambridge, on Saturday 20 October 2012.

The tractor arrived at the Lackham campus from the family of the late Flight Lieutenant Neill Cox, of Henley-on Thames, who kindly donated the tractor to the students and work began at 6am on Wednesday. The proceeds of the sale will go to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF), which provides financial, practical and emotional support to RAF personnel and their families. The charity was chosen by the family of Mr Cox, who was a Spitfire pilot during World War 2. You can still donate to this worthy cause by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/Lackham24HourTractorStrip

As the major sponsor for the tractor strip, AGCO - global manufacturer of agricultural equipment, including Massey Ferguson - generously donated the parts necessary to completely overhaul the tractor.
