Media student says appearing in official Star Wars movie trailer is ‘out of this world!’

A Creative Media student has appeared in the new official Star Wars movie trailer by combining his two passions.

Seb Sandford appears twice in the reaction video mash up for The Last Jedi after filming himself in the Mac suite at the Trowbridge campus watching clips from the upcoming film.

The 17-year-old is a big YouTube fan and has been filming his reactions to film trailers for the past three years, which he publishes on his own channel.

But he says appearing on the official Star Wars trailer is ‘out of this world!’

Seb said: “When I first watched the trailer and went through all the reactions I didn’t think I would be on it.

“Some of the fans reactions are brilliant.

“But then I spotted myself and I couldn’t believe it!

“I think the part they chose of me shows me being overwhelmed at the special effects that I was seeing, I was breathless.

“It’s amazing to be featured.”

Seb, from Limpley Stoke near Bath, joined the Level 1 Creative Media course to pursue his love of filmmaking.

He progressed onto the Level 2 course in September and has already made countless videos for his YouTube channel which has more than 24,000 followers.

Seb said: “I love watching and making films and this course at college helps me to pursue this passion.

“I am regularly in here on my days off and I enjoy it so much!”

Owain Milford, Media and Video Games Development lecturer, said it was fantastic to see Seb feature in the official video and be introduced by Star Wars actor and YouTube star Anthony Carboni.

He said: “Seb’s an amazingly enthusiastic student who’s always creating all kinds of media content.

“He’s the type of student who goes home and makes his own videos inspired by what he’s learnt that day.

“His massive YouTube channel following just shows how dedicated Seb is to being creative.

“With Seb planning to progress onto our Level 3 TV & Film course we’re hoping he’ll then be able to go on to be involved in making the new Star Wars films, not just reacting to their trailers.”

Seb features in the video at three minutes and 24 seconds and again at four minutes and 48 seconds.
