College shortlisted for prestigious AoC award

Wiltshire College & University Centre has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award celebrating best practice in teaching and learning.
The finalists for the Association of College’s (AoC) Beacon Awards were announced last night.
There are eight different categories in the awards and the College is in the running for the Edge Award for Excellence in the Practical Delivery of Technical and Professional Learning.
Principal Amanda Burnside said: “The Beacon Awards are strongly contested and I’m very pleased that the innovative and successful approach to teaching on our farm at our
Lackham campus has been recognised and that the College is a finalist at the very highest level.”
The Beacon Awards, now in their 24th year, were launched to recognise and celebrate the work that colleges do.
Carole Stott MBE, Chair of the AoC Charitable Trust, said: “The Beacon Awards highlight the great work that goes on in colleges every day.
“Colleges do great work transforming the lives of more than two million people each day and are deeply embedded within their communities.
“Wiltshire College and University Centre has done exceptionally well to get this far and we wish them the best of luck.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in March 2019.
