The 10th April is National Sibling Day and so we thought we’d share this lovely photo of sisters Gisela and Gawina Fernandes, who are both students at our Chippenham campus!
We caught up with them to find out what they are both studying and think their opposing interests mean that they would make good business partners if they were to ever set up their own IT company!
After completing the Level 3 IT course last summer, Gawina decided to stay at College and study the Level 3 Engineering course to maximise her skills.
The 19-year-old said: “I learned lots during the IT course, but particularly liked the hardware side, so I then wanted to study engineering so that I can gain more experience in that area which will help me specialise in a career where I get involved with manufacturing and design.
“I work part-time for Wavin, a Chippenham based manufacturing company, and once I complete the Level 3, I would like to do an apprenticeship as I think this route is perfect for this sort of career.”
Gisela, 18, progressed from Level 1 to Level 2 ICT in September and said unlike her sister, she enjoys the software side!
She said: “I am enjoying furthering the skills and knowledge I gained in my first year at College where I got to design websites and learned that I really enjoy web design and graphics.
“I want to progress onto the Level 3 at the end of this year and am really enjoying my time here.
“Everyone here has been very helpful and supportive.”
