Film students wins Best Comedy award at Royal Television Society awards

A former Wiltshire College & University Centre student won Best Comedy at the prestigious Royal Television Society Awards.
 
Will Todd was delighted to pick up the award for his comedy short Second Coming at the RTS Student Awards ceremony at Winchester Guildhall earlier this month.
 
The former BA Film & Cinematography student who graduated in October, made the film about the return of Jesus in his third year at the Salisbury campus.
 
Will, wrote and directed his film and was supported by fellow students Charlotte Hayde, James Henderson and Nick Milligan.
 
Film lecturer Rebecca Bond attended the awards ceremony on Friday 8th March and said: “We are delighted at the high quality of the work our students are continuing to turn out and the external recognition from professional bodies.
 
“I was delighted that for the second year running students on the degree course which is validated by Bournemouth University, have had their work nominated for the Royal Television Society Awards
 
“It is a fantastic achievement for them, and we are very proud that their hard work and talent is recognised.”
 
Sara Gatland, also a former Film & Cinematography student attended the awards, after being shortlisted in the drama category for her musical Road to Dads.
 
Wiltshire College & University Centre Principal Amanda Burnside said: “I was similarly delighted that our students won the Comedy category at the Royal Television Awards and congratulate Will, Charlotte and James on this achievement and also to everyone involved in the Film & Cinematography department.”
 
The prestigious BA Film & Cinematography course builds on more than 50 years’ experience of educating film makers with students able to work on a variety of projects including small team productions and large scale films as well as producing and directing promotional videos, dramas and documentaries in conjunction with industry professionals.
