Elderly residents and those in need in Lacock will be sharing produce donated by Wiltshire College & University Centre over the festive season.
Christmas puddings, meat, eggs, jams and chutneys were just some of the items presented in a hamper to the parish council on Wednesday 18th December by Deputy
Principal Iain Hatt and Lackham Assistant Principal Ian Revill as part of a Christmas tradition between the College and the council.
The Lackham campus, which lies in the parish of Lacock, has presented the village with a hamper for many years and the contents are then distributed to elderly residents or those on their own who might not be able to travel far from home to buy food.
Ian Revill said: “We are once again pleased to support our most local community at Christmas which is a time for giving.
“Our students organise and host many fundraisers throughout the academic year, but it is nice for us to be able to give something to our neighbours as a seasonal gesture.”
“The students on the campus do a lot of charity and fundraising activities throughout the year but at Christmas it is nice to be able to give a little something to the local residents as a gesture of seasonal goodwill.”
