
Additional learning support is available for all full-time and part-time students, and provides help with planning assignments, research, essay writing, exam techniques, literacy, numeracy and for students with specific learning difficulties.
If you think you may need help with any of the above, talk to your Tutor or Learning Mentor or contact the Additional Learning Support Co-ordinator on your campus directly (see below).
If you previously had exam concessions or think that you may be eligible for them you should see the Learning Support Co-ordinator as soon as possible. The College wishes to ensure that it complies with the The Equality Act 2010. If you are a person with an impairment, please ensure that we know what you need so that we can make all reasonable adjustments to help you succeed.
Our Learning Support Team will work closely with you if you need additional learning support while on your course, to ensure you achieve your full potential.
The team has specialist skills and experience in supporting:
- dyslexia and language difficulties
- learning difficulties
- hearing and visual impairment
- emotional and behavioural difficulties
- physical and medical conditions
Through support the team can:
- carry out an assessment of needs
- provide specialist tuition for students who have a specific learning difficulty e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, Aspergers Syndrome
- target provision to assist students with numeracy and literacy requirements
- arrange curriculum and communication support for students with sensory impairments
- provide access to assistive IT equipment
- make special examination arrangements
- support tutors in adapting learning materials
- provide support for short-term injuries
- provide support to students with mobility and or personal care needs.
Support will be tailored to individual needs.
