What do students do after a College Course?

Over the last four years over 1300 students have gained places on a University course. Their degree choices range from Fine Art to Veterinary Nursing and Aeronautical Engineering to Sports Science. Since 2001 over 20% of leavers in each year group have successfully gained university places and 40% of all the College's BTEC National Diploma students now go on to university.

Many students who come onto our 1-year level 2 programmes progress successfully to higher level courses. Over half of students on level 2 courses in Art and Design, Beauty Therapy, IT, Public Services and Sport successfully make the transition to level 3. 68% of all NVQ students will move on from an NVQ 2 to an NVQ level 3.

From level 3 courses most students will gain related employment and the correlation between course and career is particularly strong in Administration, Agriculture, Beauty Therapy, Childcare, Hairdressing and Horticulutre. Our employer links are strong and many courses have integrated work experience which often leads to an offer of a job.

It is particularly pleasing to see students who have entered the College through the new 14-16 programme, and who therefore have not flourished at school, going on to complete advanced level courses and receive well deserved prizes at our Annual Awards Ceremonies.
