Residential Accommodation is inspected by OfSTED who measure the quality of our residential provision against ‘national minimum standards’ and the OfSTED 2016 inspection has awarded Wiltshire College as ‘Good’.
Applying for Halls of Residence Accommodation

St Mary’s Halls of Residence Salisbury Campus
UK applicants for St Mary’s Halls of Residence must be on a Higher Education course and aged over 18 years (on 31st August 2016).
Rooms and kitchen facilities:
St Marys has 66 standard rooms (including designated disabled units), 11 small premium rooms and 3 premium rooms and all are single occupancy.
Each room has a single bed, wardrobe, bedside chest of drawers, desk and internet access with an en-suite bathroom providing shower, toilet and wash-basin.
Each corridor of between 6 and 9 rooms share a self-contained kitchen which includes a sink, fridge/freezer, combi oven, toaster, kettle and generous storage space. Students will need to supply their own kitchen utensils, crockery and bedding.
The HE Centre is situated in the historic part of the building and adjacent Chapel. It consists of several multi-use spaces including bar area, large lounge with widescreen TV, snug, games room and computer room. These are the focal points for a programme of student-led events and activities throughout the year.
Students can use the on-site laundry and can access a local gym "Gymies". If students are unable to access their normal GP they are expected to register with our local GP at St Anne Street Surgery (08444 778700).
The Accommodation Team provide support for residential students 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. This will be based either from the main campus or St Mary's Accommodation office. In addition to providing pastoral support, the team also coordinate the maintenance of the building, manage fire procedures as well as providing first aid cover.
The Learner Voice at St Marys is loud and clear, via a Halls Representative on the Student Union. In conjunction with individual Hall Reps for each cluster and in partnership with the Residential Accommodation Manager, issues are resolved and the social calendar is planned at regular meetings.
All residents are subject to the College's Code of Conduct and the accommodation team monitor compliance. All residents are required to sign the Licence to Occupy, distributed with the Offer of Accommodation. Any breaches of the College's Code of Conduct or the Licence to Occupy will be dealt with according to the College's Disciplinary Procedure - a summary of which is available in the 'College Handbook' or available on the College website (www.wiltshire.ac.uk).

All rooms are rented on a self-catering basis. This fee for accommodation is for seven days per week, heating, lighting, unlimited internet access and regular cleaning of the communal areas.
All students in halls are required to pay a £250 deposit through our ‘Online Shop’ (£30 for the keys and £220 against damage beyond ‘fair wear and tear’) before their place in halls can be confirmed. Both deposits are returnable if a student does not take up the offer of a place.
An inventory of the condition of the room and communal areas is agreed at the beginning of the occupancy and this is checked and agreed when a student vacates. The deposit will be returned in full, as long as the keys are not lost/damaged and no damage is found to the room or communal areas used by the resident(s).
Charges for Damages:
Students are encouraged to report damages to their rooms and common areas to the Residential Accommodation Manager. The College reserves the right to pass on the reasonable cost of repair or replacement of goods in circumstances where the damage is not attributable to normal wear and tear.
Terms and Conditions
Notice to vacate a roomThe Licence to Occupy is a contract for the 'College Year' (see below). The students will be financially responsible for the accommodation fees so it is extremely important they are sure they want a room in the Halls of Residence. If a suitable student is identified who wants to move in, the Residential Accommodation Manager will investigate.
If the College deems it necessary to terminate the Licence to Occupy, notice will be given as soon as possible. In cases of loss of facilities due to force majeur it may be necessary for evacuation to be immediate. In all cases other than exclusion as a result of disciplinary action or loss of entitlement due to leaving their course, residents will be provided with accommodation which does not exceed the cost of their original provision. In disciplinary cases exclusion or suspension will be immediate and no rebate of fees will be given.
A guarantor is to be provided with a Guarantors Certificate signed by the 3rd party. The guarantor - who can be a parent/guardian - would be responsible for accommodation fees should the student default on payments.
Invoicing for FeesAll students will be asked to sign a Standing Order form to pay fees on a termly basis. Payments should be made by the due date.
Students who find it difficult meeting payment deadlines are encouraged to discuss such problems with the Residential Accommodation Manager.
The 'College year'Students will be charged for the 'College year'. This is either 40 or 42 weeks depending on your course. There is no reduction for weeks when a room is left vacant by a student for holidays, study tours, work experience or illness.
Changes of RoomsRoom changes may be permitted at the discretion of the Residential Accommodation Manager
Some students will prefer to live off-campus in private accommodation. The Residential Accommodation Manager can provide information regarding alternative off-site accommodation in private homes or via rental agencies. Unfortunately we cannot supply such information to students under 18.
It is the responsibility of parents of under-18s to find accommodation and satisfy themselves that it is a suitable, safe and healthy environment for the student.
