Hairdressing
Hairdressing is one of the most creative and exciting industries to work in. If you train with Wiltshire College, you'll be giving yourself the best start possible. Who knows, you might be the next Charles Worthington or Jo Hansford!
Your lecturers are all highly qualified stylists, with fantastic track records in the hairdressing industry. Many are, or have been, salon owners.
They are also fully qualified teachers who will use the most effective methods of passing their knowledge onto you.
Realistic Work Environment
You will work with real clients in the professional College salons, giving you valuable experience to prepare you for work or further study. The salons have a full range of equipment and use the most reputable products from leading brands. You also learn about handling client information, will work on the salon reception greeting customers and making them feel comfortable.
Work placements are an important part of the courses. Past students have worked at 'Center Parcs', 'Toni & Guy' and other prime salons.A Personal Tutor will give you support in your coursework and during your work placements. The careers service is also available to help you plan your future after College.
Communication, numeracy and computer skills are all important in the hairdressing industry. Communicating with clients, mixing chemicals and managing client information are just some examples of skills used in a salon. We will help you achieve additional skills to the maximum of your potential.
What can I do after my course finishes?
The sky's the limit! Past students have been employed by airlines, cruise lines and travel companies as well as by top salons across the country. Some students go on to become teachers or assessors to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of hairdressers. Many ex-students now own salons.
Competitions
One of the most exciting parts of studying hairdressing at Wiltshire College is taking part in the College hairdressing competitions, where the best entries go forward to regional and national competitions.
At Wiltshire College a Level 1 student recently gained the prestigious title of British Champion for two separate competitions in the National Hairdressing Federation finals.
You will have the opportunity to go on trips and exhibitions. Last year the students went on a fabulous trip to Barcelona where they visited all the sights and were treated to a seminar at the famous Wella International Studios with two top Spanish stylists. They also visited Salon International at the Docklands in London which is Europe's biggest hairdressing exhibition.
