14-16 programmes & course information
Are you at school?
Wiltshire College has a great new range of options for students aged 14 to 16.
See the 14-16 Student Handbook for 2011/12 here
Wiltshire College offers 4 types of 14-16 programmes depending upon your individual circumstances and needs: Vocational Options; Access to Further Education; and Young Apprenticeships.
Young Apprenticeships
The Young Apprentice programme is a new government initiative introduced in 2004 that allows well motivated and talented pupils to study for vocational qualifications rather than only following the traditional GCSE route in Years 10 and 11.
Vocational Options
Vocational Options are 1-year and 2-year programmes leading to nationally recognised qualifications in one vocational area. These programmes are suitable for you if you are able to show a strong interest in a chosen subject. You need to be able to cope with both theory and activity based classes and maintain a minimum 90% attendance.
Access to Further Education
The Access to Further Education course offers individual programmes which let you participate in a range of vocational options. It maybe that a school placement is no longer appropriate. You will normally be referred to this provision by the school which has been most recently attended or other specialist referral agency.
The aim of this provision is to re-engage you with learning and to provide a positive learning experience in preparation for the transition to further education or employment.
