Duration: Two years full-time, or 3 to 4 years part-time
Location: Lackham

With access to our extensive rural estate at Lackham, you will gain first-hand experience in working with woodland, farmland and river systems. You will benefit from obtaining a Royal Agricultural University validated qualification, in a rural environment which will prepare you with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required for a range of agriculture related careers including consultancy, research and farm management. Throughout both years of the course, you will obtain an important insight into employment and the transferrable skills required within modern agriculture and related sectors.

Our farm maintains a diverse range of enterprises on commercial scales, in order to fully prepare you for future employment. The farm exists in the ‘real world’ and experiences the same challenges of weather, weeds, pests, diseases and price fluctuations as any other commercial farm. It is this exposure to the reality of farming that makes the experience of studying at Lackham such a good preparation for a successful and challenging career in agriculture.

Your Experience

The summer break between years one and two entails a compulsory industry placement, where further training and experience are gained. This is a great opportunity to gain additional experience and build upon your network outside of the college. This placement will be monitored by your tutor and you are expected to produce a portfolio of evidence of your learning experience.
